Former cricketer Kevin Pietersen revealed the bitter truth about India's defeat in the Kolkata Test and the money laundering.
Kevin Pietersen said that the outcome of the Kolkata Test reflects the nature of modern cricket. He explained that today’s batsmen grow up focusing on hitting sixes and playing switch-hits, and they are no longer trained to build long innings or save matches under pressure.
The former England cricketer added that it isn’t the players’ fault because this is how contemporary cricket has evolved. These days, players do not prioritize staying at the crease or mastering the skill of playing spin. Cricket has become a sport of loud music, bright lights, cricket boards, and the financial interests of private franchises.
He remarked that no one discusses this issue because speaking about it is discouraged. Players should earn as much as possible, and they are simply doing what the system promotes.
Kevin Pietersen further stated that players will continue smashing sixes and playing switch-hits—and in turn, continue boosting their bank accounts.
It is worth mentioning that South Africa defeated India in the Kolkata Test.
In this match, India fell victim to its own strategy against South Africa, and the entire side was dismissed for just 93 runs while chasing a target of 124.
